Four New Certified SCRUM Masters at Bit-Wizards

In July, four members of the Bit-Wizards team attended Certified SCRUM Master training, and are now Certified SCRUM Masters. SCRUM is a form of Agile Project Management that allows teams to deliver usable software periodically throughout the life of the project, absorbing change and new requirements as the project proceeds.

This training event was organized by H2 Performance Consulting working from a WIRED Grant from Florida’s Great Northwest. With the project management experience from H2 Performance Consulting and the technology background from Bit-Wizards, an exciting synergy made this training event that much more meaningful.

After attending the training, Louis Erickson, Chief Operating Officer, said, “This training spoke directly to our process and crystalized for me how we do business. I was pleased to see how many of these tactics we already employ, but even more excited to learn a number of new concepts that will help improve our process. We are adopting some of the strategies right away and considering a full adoption for our first product project that we hope to get to in 2011.”

Vincent Mayfield, Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Grohoske, Director of Software Engineering, and Dave Perkins, Senior Software Engineer also participated in SCRUM training and certification testing. Vincent noted that “We will be integrating SCRUM principals into our processes soon. SCRUM is in-tune with the way we manage our business.”

While SCRUM was originally formalized for software development projects, it works equally well for any complex, innovative scope of work. SCRUM is the leading agile development methodology, used by Fortune 500 companies around the world.
